However, the character himself was nothing special and was frequently on the wrong side of himbo. He does put his all into it, and you can tell it's one of his favorite roles. Vincent himself was only really propped up for me thanks to Troy Baker's performance. A mystery narrative that's easy to guess isn't inherently a bad thing, but it felt like the game was a step or two behind where I was at all times, and I'm usually awful at guessing these things, so I just felt frustrated by it more often than not. Having guessed key plot points in the first act, I expected them to be narrative hooks, only to find them revealed as major plot twists at the end. It's a game that thinks it's a lot slicker with its messaging and narrative than it is. ![]() However, I felt like it didn't go deep enough in the paint to give any kind of nuance and depth to its themes and values. To be honest, given the game's premise, I went into Catherine expecting a borderline incel simulator, which thankfully it is not. Considering its cult classic status and the fact that it was created by the same team as the Persona series, I wanted to enjoy Catherine: Full Body FAR more than I did.Īlas, it didn't really deliver on much besides the presentation (particularly the bomb-ass intro sequence), the music, the cute little Persona nods and easter eggs, and the core puzzle gameplay (besides on the difficulty front, even in this "fixed" version of the game). Other than that, maybe they'll link a PS5 upgrade with a pc version? But I wouldn't get my hopes up too much here.Oh boy. If they just want the big Japanese names on Xbox, then they won't help at all but if they'd actually try to get a grip onto the Japanese gaming market (for which they have amazing cards actually, with the Xbox game pass and especially the Xbox Cloud Gaming making premium console games possible on smartphones and other mobile devices, their strategy is perfect for the Japanese consumers), they'd try to bring every Atlus game to Xbox (and Xbox Game Pass), which would automatically result in a pc port as well. My guess here is, that they just aren't sure if a Catherine FB pc port would be worth it as most insterested players probably already bought Catherine Classic.ĭepending on Microsofts strategy, they could help the possibility of a pc port. But as a relic of that plan, we now have Catherine Classic on pc, a modern and fairly recent re-release of Catherine on pc. The Catherine Classic pc port was a great move by Sega, that made their plans to have all their games multiplat possible without forcing Atlus too much. It sold amazingly and Atlus realized, that they can sell more than one copy on pc and that not every pc player is automatically a priate, a criminal and a psycho (or whatever their perception actually was). It could get pc player interested in Catherine: Full Body AND it should not hurt Atlus even if Atlus' perception of pc gaming were true. Atlus was hesitant about pc, and because Sega didn't want to just force them to support pc even if they don't want to, they just ported an old non-megami-tensei game to pc that even already had a remake announced back then. ![]() They clearly pushed Atlus to consider PC an important platform by making the Catherine Classic port. ![]() In the past, they let Atlus mostly do what they want. Nowadays, Sega themselves would never skip pc ever.
